Louis Vuitton Spring 2024: Pharrell’s Debut

The Fashionisto / Published June 22, 2023

As the summer sun takes the helm, a new day dawns for Louis Vuitton, with Pharrell Williams stepping in as the creative director for the Maison’s menswear line. Pharrell’s introductory show, held under the open skies of Paris, was nothing short of radiant.

Pont Neuf, a symbolic landmark of Louis Vuitton’s storied past, glittered with a Damier motif runway, reflecting the brand’s heritage onto the canvas of this new era. The initial announcement of Pharrell taking the reins had already sparked intrigue, and the actual showcase was a gleaming spectacle of joy and love.

From the moment the attendees arrived till the echo of the last note of music faded, every element was artfully designed to create an unforgettable experience. The core ethos of Pharrell’s debut collection, dubbed “LVERS,” was deeply rooted in the philosophy that an affinity for Louis Vuitton transcends the physical product. It is a profound adoration for the curated culture and the shared understanding of refined taste.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2024 Collection

Pharrell’s inaugural collection had the iconic LV monogram as its primary motif, cleverly interwoven with his distinct Damoflage print, a playful pixelated representation reminiscent of retro 8-bit graphics. This clever juxtaposition of heritage and novelty added a dash of unique charm, akin to the pairing of classic elegance with contemporary fashion.

The sun was a significant symbol for Pharrell, emphasizing life’s vibrant energy. This energy was evident in his collection, a beautiful medley of contrasting designs, blending heritage and innovation with a charming fluidity.

Notably, Pharrell introduced the refreshed Monogram-adorned Speedy bag in an array of lively hues, reinforcing the dynamic spirit of the season. His appearance on the runway, dressed in a digitalized Camouflage suit, was a memorable tribute to the enduring emblem of the Maison.

The collection brought to life traditional and novel silhouettes, brilliantly mirroring the show’s theme. The line-up included everything from the bold short suit to long coats, from leather jackets with hoods to cargo shorts.

There were leather boots and backpacks, quaint mary jane t-strap shoes, leather trousers and coats, pleated shorts, belts flaunting the “LV” logo, oversized boots, shearling jackets, printed denim, sports jerseys, and more. Each piece was a visual treat, marrying heritage aesthetics with a pioneering vision.

Pharrell’s first venture was a vibrant celebration of his journey thus far and an homage to his predecessor, Virgil Abloh. He reiterated that the creative genius who preceded him would always remain in the heart of his creations for the Maison.
